In addition to the acute stroke, AX200 has the potential to enhance recovery even if given quite some time (in vivo models up to 72 hours) after the actual onset of stroke. This distinguishes AX200 from all existing drug candidates in the field. Due to this unique profile of AX200 (enhancement of neurogenesis, arteriogenesis and plasticity) stroke patients could benefit from AX200 treatment not only in the acute phase of the disease but also days and even weeks after the onset of stroke. Therefore, SYGNIS is currently evaluating a development strategy to enhance stroke recovery.
