Amnestix Inc. is a pioneer in discovering disease mechanisms that play a significant role in numerous diseases affecting the central nervous system. Amnestix applies innovative technologies in genome-scanning and other molecular diagnostics. Amnestix was founded by scientists from the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in 2006 and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California. The Company’s CEO is Dr. Karoly Nikolich.
Amnestix Inc. is developing novel therapies and forms of diagnosing to improve the human cognition and memory performance. The founders of Amnestix, Dr. Dietrich Stephan and Dr. Matthew Huentelman, have discovered a series of novel patentable genes and pathways that play a fundamental role in memory performance in humans using a strategy called whole genome association analysis. Their findings uncovered novel proprietary utilities of protein kinase inhibitors for the treatment of neurological conditions such as cognitive impairment, vascular dementia and others.
In June 2008, Amnestix Inc. was acquired by SYGNIS Pharma AG. By combining Amnestix’ research and development capacities with its own CNS-expertise SYGNIS is securing the future input of new drug candidates into its own pipeline. In addition SYGNIS gains direct access to the leading neurogenomic expertise of TGen. Thanks to the collaboration with the founders of Amnestix SYGNIS moreover benefits from access to the excellent CNS experts’ network as well as to the US capital market.
